The Forest Chair was designed for the lounges of the 2021 Portuguese Presidency of the council of the European Union. The chair comes in 4 varieties based on the combination of materials that each unit utilizes: agglomerated cork or agglomerated toasted cork (both of which are the waste streams of the cork stoppers industry) for the inner lining, and with either eucalyptus leaves (waste from the paper industry) or forest clutter (waste from the forestry industry). The chair was designed for Covid-19 pandemic conditions and social distancing, and as such, each unit integrates its own side table – made from upcycled pine wood from broken cargo pallets.
